Sree Charani Sets New T20I Bowling Rating Record

India's left-arm spinner Sree Charani has created history in the ICC Women's T20I Bowling Rankings, reaching the highest rating points ever recorded by a bowler in the format.

Charani gained 18 points in the latest weekly update to reach 817 rating points, surpassing the previous record of 806 held by Australia's Megan Schutt since November 2018.

Only Schutt and England spinner Sophie Ecclestone had previously reached the 800-point mark in the history of the Women's T20I bowling rankings.

Charani's latest rise was powered by her performance in the Asian Games final against Sri Lanka, where she returned figures of 2 for 13. The result helped her strengthen her position at the top of the rankings while setting a new all-time benchmark.

Charani now leads an Indian one-two at the top of the T20I bowling rankings. Teammate Deepti Sharma is second with 754 points, while England's Sophie Ecclestone sits third on 723.

The record caps a rapid rise for the 22-year-old spinner. Charani first became the world's No.1-ranked T20I bowler in June 2026 after a strong run of performances at the Women's T20 World Cup.

Mandhana Moves Into the Top Five

There was also positive news for India in the T20I batting rankings. Smriti Mandhana moved up one place to fifth after scoring 79 from 46 balls in the final against Sri Lanka.

Australia's Beth Mooney retained the top position among T20I batters.

West Indies captain Hayley Matthews continues to lead the T20I all-rounders' rankings, while Charani's record-breaking rise remains the biggest headline from the latest update.
