Gerard Pique Predicts Barcelona 4-1 Win Over Real Madrid in El Clasico
Jose Mourinho is set to return to Camp Nou as Real Madrid manager, but Gerard Pique expects the Portuguese coach to suffer another heavy defeat against Barcelona.
The former Barcelona defender has predicted a 4-1 victory for the Catalan giants in the upcoming El Clasico, recalling Mourinho's difficult first visit to Camp Nou as Real Madrid boss.
During Mourinho's first spell in charge of Real Madrid, the club played 17 Clasicos against Barcelona. Madrid won five of those matches, Barcelona won six, while the other six ended in draws.
Real Madrid's heaviest defeat under Mourinho came in November 2010, when Barcelona produced a stunning 5-0 victory at Camp Nou. It was Mourinho's first Clasico against Barcelona as Real Madrid manager, and Pique was part of the Barcelona starting XI that night.
With another Clasico approaching, Pique discussed the two teams and their players in a video shared on TikTok. He also offered his prediction for the outcome of the highly anticipated fixture.
“Mourinho lost 5-0 the first time he went to Camp Nou. I think this time they will lose 4-1,” Pique said.
Mourinho's first spell at Real Madrid featured an extraordinary run of Clasicos. The Spanish giants faced Barcelona four times within just 18 days during that period, while playing 17 Clasicos across his three seasons in charge.
The current league standings add further intrigue to Sunday's encounter. Barcelona have won all nine of their La Liga matches so far, collecting 27 points and sitting at the top of the table. Real Madrid are third with 21 points from nine games.
The two Spanish giants will meet on Sunday in another highly anticipated El Clasico. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00am Bangladesh time.
