Lamine Yamal Double Helps Spain Crush Croatia 4-1 in Nations League

Spain continued their impressive start to the UEFA Nations League with a commanding 4-1 victory over Croatia in Seville, securing their second consecutive win in the competition.

Lamine Yamal was the star of the night, scoring twice, while Marc Pubill and Nico Williams also found the net as the world champions produced another dominant performance on home soil following their 2026 World Cup triumph.

Before kick-off, Spain captain Rodri proudly lifted the World Cup trophy in front of the home supporters. Just 70 seconds into the match, Yamal gave Spain the perfect start.

The move began with Marc Cucurella and Alex Baena before Fermin Lopez cleverly left the ball for Yamal. The 19-year-old forward cut inside from the right and fired a low shot into the net to put Spain ahead.

Croatia responded in the 28th minute. Ivan Perisic delivered an excellent cross from the left, and Dion Drena Beljo rose between two Spanish defenders to head the ball home.

Spain restored their lead only three minutes later. Following a short corner, Yamal combined with Fermin before sending a cross into the box, where Marc Pubill headed it past Dominik Livakovic.

Spain almost added a third before halftime, but Fermin Lopez's curling effort from inside the box struck the post.

The hosts continued to control the game after the break, and Yamal doubled his tally in the 63rd minute. Receiving a superb through ball from Pedri, he entered the box and fired a difficult left-footed shot through the near post.

Livakovic got a hand to the effort but could not keep it out.

Yamal was substituted in the 68th minute and received a standing ovation from the Spanish supporters. Across Spain's two matches during the international break, the Barcelona forward has now contributed to four goals through scoring and assists.

Croatia introduced 41-year-old Luka Modric in the 81st minute, but even the veteran midfielder could not inspire a comeback.

Spain added a fourth goal in the 89th minute through Nico Williams. After an attack involving Rodri, Pedri and Mikel Merino, Williams received the ball, beat a Croatian defender and calmly finished past the goalkeeper.

Spain have now won both of their Nations League matches. They will face the Czech Republic on October 3, while Croatia are scheduled to meet England on the same day.
