The Bangladesh women's cricket team's tour of Australia ended on a disappointing note. In the third and final ODI in Brisbane, Australia chased down the target of 173 runs set by Bangladesh with 164 balls to spare, losing only two wickets. Consequently, the hosts completed a 3-0 whitewash in the three-match ODI series.
After losing the toss and batting first, Bangladesh was bowled out for 172 in 49.5 overs. Sharmin Akter and Swarna Akter contributed 104 of the team's total runs. Batting at number three, Sharmin scored 50 off 93 balls, hitting eight fours. Swarna, coming in at number six, scored 54 off 71 balls; this innings marked the highest score of her ODI career and included four boundaries.
Apart from these two, only Rabeya Khan and Disha Biswas reached double figures for Bangladesh. Batting at numbers eight and nine, both scored 13 runs. While Swarna was dismissed, Disha remained unbeaten on her ODI debut.
Early Setback and the Sharmin-Swarna Fightback
Bangladesh's innings got off to a dismal start. The team struggled to score runs while losing wickets at regular intervals. After captain Nigar Sultana departed for just 3 runs, Bangladesh's score stood at 18 for 3 after nine overs. Sobhana Mostary also fell with the team score at 45; the batter, who had scored a century in the previous match, managed only 9 runs off 24 balls this time.
Australian pacer Megan Schutt claimed the first four Bangladeshi wickets. She bowled 10 overs, conceding only 16 runs and bowling five maidens.

Amidst this collapse, Sharmin and Swarna tried to bring the team back into the contest by forging a 54-run partnership. This stand was broken with Sharmin's dismissal. Later, in the 49th over, Swarna was out as the eighth batter with the team score at 165. Ultimately, Bangladesh's innings concluded at 172. Easy win for Australia powered by Perry and Sutherland
Australia also lost two early wickets while chasing the target; the hosts were reduced to 13 for 1 and then 38 for 2. However, Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland ensured there were no further setbacks.
Australia dominated the Bangladeshi bowlers through the aggressive batting of the duo. Perry scored 65 off 64 balls, including eight fours, while Sutherland played a blistering innings of 74 off just 52 balls, featuring 12 fours.
Thanks to their solid partnership for the third wicket, Australia reached the target with ease. With this victory, the hosts completed a 3-0 series sweep, demonstrating total dominance over Bangladesh in the three-match contest.
