Rahul Dravid is a legend of Indian cricket, and now his younger son, Anvay Dravid, is showcasing his own prowess with the bat. The 17-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman, who also captains the Karnataka Under-19 team, has been turning heads with his batting performances. In the Elite stage of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, he played a spectacular innings of 151 runs off just 100 balls against the Gujarat Under-19 side, leading his team to victory.
Chasing a daunting target of 357 set by Gujarat, Karnataka secured a 5-wicket win. In this challenging chase, Anvay displayed a remarkable blend of patience, an aggressive mindset, and the ability to take responsibility under pressure.
Anvay turned the tide of the match with a 204-run partnership.
Karnataka’s start was not ideal; openers Rohit Reddy and Nitish Arya managed only 30 runs together. Following Nitish’s dismissal in the sixth over, Rohit and Dhruv Krishnan added another 33 runs for the second wicket. However, Karnataka found themselves under pressure when Rohit was dismissed in the 12th over.
In that critical situation, Anvay and Dhruv Krishnan took charge. They struck an excellent balance between protecting their wickets and maintaining the required scoring rate. By forging a 204-run partnership for the third wicket, the duo steered Karnataka back onto the path to victory.
Even after Dhruv Krishnan fell in the 38th over, Anvay’s fight continued. He added another 61 runs for the fourth wicket alongside Aniket Reddy. His innings finally came to an end in the 44th over—by which point he had scored 151 runs off 100 balls, bringing his team to the brink of victory.

His innings featured 20 fours and 3 sixes. Delivering such a performance while chasing a massive target serves as a testament to his batting ability at the Under-19 level. Dravid’s son shines again
Anvay’s stellar performance against Gujarat did not come out of the blue. In the previous match against the Delhi Under-19 team, he had also displayed aggressive batting, scoring 85 runs off just 41 balls.
Anvay also has experience playing for the India Under-19 team; he has accumulated 148 runs in four youth One-Day matches this year.
Sehwag’s son scores 173 in the same tournament
Another son of a legendary cricketer has also made headlines in the same tournament—Aryavir Sehwag, son of Virender Sehwag, scored 173 runs. With Anvay Dravid scoring 151 and Aryavir Sehwag scoring 173, there is heightened interest surrounding the performances of these two successors of former cricketing stars.
In Indian cricket, Rahul Dravid’s name is synonymous with patience, discipline, and responsible batting. Naturally, expectations surround his son, Anvay. However, being the child of a legendary cricketer is one thing; carving out an identity through one’s own performance is quite another.
Anvay has a long road ahead to establish himself. It will require consistent performances and the ability to repeatedly prove his mettle in challenging situations. His innings of 151 against Gujarat is, without a doubt, a memorable milestone on that journey.
