Pakistan pacers Mohammad Abbas and Khurram Shahzad have been sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for their aggressive celebrations during the first Test against the West Indies. Both bowlers received one demerit point for breaching Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which prohibits actions or gestures that may provoke or intimidate a batter after a dismissal.

Khurram Shahzad was additionally fined 15 percent of his match fee, while Mohammad Abbas received an official reprimand. The sanctions were imposed by match referee Jeff Crowe.

Both players admitted the offences and accepted the penalties, meaning no formal disciplinary hearing was required. It was also the first ICC offence for both bowlers in the last 24 months. Under ICC regulations, players who accumulate four or more demerit points within a two-year period can face suspension from international cricket.

The disciplinary action came after West Indies secured a commanding 90-run victory over Pakistan in the opening Test, wrapping up the match inside four days with a strong all-round display. The second and final Test of the series is set to begin on August 2 in Port of Spain.
