Mandhana surpasses Mithali to become highest run-getter in international cricket

India's Smriti Mandhana now holds the record for the highest run score in women's international cricket. The left-handed opener has created a new history by surpassing former Indian captain Mithali Raj with a blistering century against Hong Kong.

Mandhana played a devastating innings of 124 runs in just 64 balls in the Women's Asia Cup 'A' Group match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Relying on her bat, India scored 193 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In response, Hong Kong was all out for just 56 runs, giving India a big win by 137 runs.

Before this match, Mithali Raj had 10,868 runs in international cricket. With her 124 runs against Hong Kong, Mandhana's total runs stood at 10,880. Of these, she has scored 4,681 in T20Is, 5,411 in ODIs and 788 in Tests.

Mithali is now second only to Mandhana in the list of highest runs in international cricket. New Zealand's Suzie Bates is third with 10,740 runs. England's Charlotte Edwards is second with 10,273 runs and West Indies' Stafanie Taylor is third with 10,007 runs.

Mandhana has not only set a record for runs but also for centuries. Her 124-run innings against Hong Kong is her 18th century in international cricket. With this, she has surpassed former Australian captain Meg Lanning. Both of them had 17 centuries so far.

Apart from that, Mandhana now has the highest individual innings in the history of the Women's Asia Cup. Her 124 runs have surpassed Sri Lanka's Chamari Atapattu's unbeaten 119 against Malaysia in 2024. This is also the highest individual score for India in women's T20 International cricket.

Mandhana touched Mithali with another record on the way to a century against Hong Kong. She now has 93 innings of 50 or more runs in international cricket - equal to Mithali Raj.

By setting so many records in a single match, Mandhana has once again proven how far she has come on the path to writing new history in Indian women's cricket.
